Privacy notice

The short version

Reporting a Clearing call is completely anonymous. No name, no email, no account. We store your grades, the course you rang about and what happened — none of which identifies you.

Booking the Results Day Plan is different: that needs real contact details, and it is handled entirely separately. The two are never joined.

Reporting a Clearing call

We store: your qualification and grades, the university and course, the outcome, anything the university said they were looking for, and any notes you add.

We also store a random identifier held in your browser's local storage. It exists so you don't have to type your grades again and so your own reports stay together. It is not linked to any identity and we cannot use it to find out who you are.

We store a one-way hash of your IP address to prevent abuse. We never store the address itself.

Because none of this identifies you, it is not personal data — which is deliberate. It's the reason we can offer this without asking 17-year-olds to hand over their details.

What gets published

Only aggregate figures, and only once at least five people have reported the same thing, so no single report can be picked out.

Verbal offers are never published in any form until the place is secured. Private notes are never published at all.

Analytics

We use Plausible to count visits and see which pages get used. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and creates no identifier that could follow you to another website — which is why this site has no cookie banner.

Plausible records the page visited, the site that referred you, and rough details like country and device type. None of it is tied to your Clearing reports or to a booking, and none of it identifies you.

Booking the Results Day Plan

The parent or guardian provides their name, email and payment details. Payment is processed by Stripe — we never see or store card details.

We use these details only to deliver the service you booked and to meet our legal obligations. The lawful basis is performance of a contract.

This data is held separately from Clearing reports and is never combined with them.

How long we keep things

Anonymous Clearing reports are kept indefinitely as a research dataset, because they cannot identify anyone.

Booking records are kept for six years, which is the period required for tax and contractual purposes, then deleted.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Because Clearing reports are anonymous we usually cannot link them to you — but if you flag a specific report we will remove it.

Under 18s

Most people using this site are 16 to 18. Keeping the reporting tool anonymous is how we keep their data safe: we collect the minimum that makes the tool useful and nothing that identifies a young person.

Where a student is under 18, the Results Day Plan is bought by a parent or guardian, who is present on every call and copied on all correspondence.
