Results day, hour by hour

What happens when on 13 August, and which hours actually matter.

The whole thing is decided in about six hours. Places at popular courses go during the morning, and by mid-afternoon you are choosing from what's left.

  1. 07:30Be up and ready. Phone charged, list written, grades to hand.
  2. 08:00Results released. Check UCAS Hub first — it may already show you accepted.
  3. 08:00–10:00The busiest hours. Popular courses go now. Ring your top choices first.
  4. 10:00–13:00Lines start to clear. Good window if you couldn't get through earlier.
  5. 13:00Clearing choices can be added in UCAS Hub. Add one only after a verbal yes.
  6. 13:00–17:00Second wave — universities release places they held back.
  7. EveningQuieter, but places do still appear as others decline.
  8. 14–16 AugThe long tail. Plenty still available, less pressure.

The 08:00–14:00 window is the one that counts

Clear your morning. Don't schedule anything, don't go out for lunch, and make sure your phone is charged before you leave the house.
